Asbestos Workers and Insulators Local Union 72
We have a four-year apprenticeship program. Rates of pay and guidelines are as follows:
Wage rates are 60, 70, 80, 90 percent of the Mechanic's rate based on their proof of experience plus $30.00 a day per-diem. Each Apprentice is under a 500 hr. Probationary Period. Each Apprentice is required to attend Apprenticeship Class with at least 144 classroom hrs. per year. The Apprenticeship Program is indentured with the North Carolina Department of Labor Apprenticeship and Training Bureau. After all On The Job Training Hrs. and Classroom Hrs. are met, each Apprentice shall receive a certificate from the Apprenticeship Program and then shall become a Mechanic.

Apprenticeship Training teaches students how to:
Weld and receive certified welder qualifications and training
Install glass and store fronts in buildings.
Build and install stairs and handrails.
